Webinar software comparison: Microsoft Teams vs Google Meet

Microsoft Teams vs Google Meet: features

Users with computer browsers, mobile devices, or tablets can use any of these tools to access either Microsoft Teams or Google Meet.

It's easy to promote webinars in Microsoft Teams, thanks to customizable landing pages. However, these still have a strong Microsoft branding. Google Meet users can promote their content with a convenient email reminder tool. However, the greatest drawback to this is that the emails cannot be customized.

Microsoft Teams offers a chat function that allows guests to communicate. However, this chat is for guests, and there is no private chat solely for hosts and moderators. As for Google Meet, some of its best features include digital whiteboards. On the downside, there are no live answer notifications.

Microsoft Teams offers a useful analytics tool, but this is not built into the product, meaning that all reporting data must be exported. Google Meet also offers an attendee activity dashboard, but there is no on-demand webinar option.

Microsoft Teams vs Google Meet: integrations

Microsoft Teams can be easily integrated with tools like Trello, Mural, and Salesforce, though it should be noted that integrations will usually cost extra. Google Meet also offers a variety of integration options, including Google Workspace, Clickshare Conference, and TurboHire.

More creative developers may enjoy Microsoft Teams’ Teams API, which can be used to automate team lifecycles, manage multiple channels, and more. Google Meet is less flexible in this respect, as there is no API.

Microsoft Teams users can access a JavaScript SDK, which they can use to create hosted experiences, mainly for Teams’ Tabs and Task modules. Google Meet lacks a public SDK, meaning that enterprises with more unique needs may not prefer this option.

Lastly, Microsoft Teams has an integration marketplace, as well as a collaborative developer hub called the Dev Center. There is no app marketplace for Google Meet, but Google Meet integrations can be viewed on the Google Workspace Marketplace.

Microsoft Teams vs Google Meet: pricing

For customers who like to try before they buy, Microsoft Teams offers one free plan limited to webinars. Likewise, a free plan is available for Google Meet, which supports up to three guests and is limited to meetings.

Microsoft Teams’ most affordable plan is the 365 Business Basic, which costs $5 per month, and bundles Microsoft’s Teams, Exchange, OneDrive, and Sharepoint products. Google Meet’s lowest-priced plan is Google Workplace Individual and supports up to 100 participants for $7.99 a month.

Microsoft Teams and Google Meet are both somewhat unique in that they only offer two paid plans, with no “medium” tier plan option.

Lastly, Microsoft Teams offers an enterprise plan for large businesses, called the Microsoft 365 Business Standard, which is available for $12.50 per month and supports up to 300 attendees. Google Meet offers a similar product, called Google Workspace Enterprise, which allows up to 250 meeting attendees and up to 100,000 viewers.
