Webinar software comparison: GoToWebinar vs Microsoft Teams

GoToWebinar vs Microsoft Teams: features

Microsoft Teams can be accessed through any browser or via a mobile app. This is also the case for GoToWebinar, making both platforms very accessible choices.

GoToWebinar helps businesses promote their webinars via personalized email invites. With that said, it does not offer an embed form feature. Microsoft Teams’ primary promotional tool is customizable landing pages, which, though customizable, still have strong Microsoft branding.

GoToWebinar users can track participation in real-time with its attendee engagement dashboard. Unfortunately, question upvotes, emoji reactions, and live answer notifications are not options. Microsoft Teams, by contrast, is not very well-optimized for engagement. For example, while it has a chat function, it has no emoji reactions.

Lastly, while GoToWebinar has attendee source tracking tools, it does not provide data enrichment for incomplete profiles. Microsoft Teams also offers participant analytics but lacks webinar automation and SAML SSO.

GoToWebinar vs Microsoft Teams: integrations

There are currently more than 20 native integrations listed on GoToWebinar’s website. Microsoft Teams offers integrations with other Microsoft products and platforms like Trello and Mural.

GoToWebinar also offers an API available through their parent company which developers can use to build their own solutions. However, Microsoft Teams currently does not provide an API to allow third parties to develop integrations.

Developers using GoToWebinar can also create their own widgets and plugins for the product with its public SDK option. Microsoft Teams does not offer an SDK, meaning that organizations with more unique customization needs might be happier with GoToWebinar, or another platform entirely.

GoToWebinar’s integrations can be found in its integration marketplace, along with a detailed description and syncing instructions. Microsoft Teams lists its integrations on its website, as well, and also hosts a developer hub to facilitate innovation.

GoToWebinar vs Microsoft Teams: pricing

GoToWebinar does not offer a free version of its software. Microsoft Teams does offer a free plan, though, which supports up to three participants.

The cheapest GoToWebinar plan is called the Lite plan. It costs $49 per month and allows 100 participants per event. Microsoft Teams' most affordable plan is the 365 Business Basic, which costs $5 per user, and includes Microsoft Teams, Exchange, OneDrive, and Sharepoint.

Small businesses have two GoToWebinar options to choose from: the Standard plan, which permits 250 participants for $99 per month, and the Pro plan, which enables 500 participants for $199 a month. There is no similarly-priced product for Microsoft Teams, however.

Lastly, GoToWebinar has a plan designed just for large businesses, called the Enterprise plan, which starts at $399 per month and permits a maximum of 3,000 participants per event. Microsoft Teams' enterprise plan is called the Microsoft 365 Business Standard and has 10 Microsoft products for $12.50 per month.
